On Saturday, October 20, the Emerging 100 of the South Metro Chapter of 100 Black Men, in partnership with DTLR, Inc. and City of East Point Councilwoman Karen René, distributed new shoes to selected students through their Best Foot Forward program. The shoe donation was made possible by contributions from DTLR, Inc.

Park Lane Elementary School and Tri-Cities High School were chosen by the Emerging 100 and the East Point City Council as recipient schools of the program. Students were selected by the administration and counseling staff at each school based on need, character, behavior, and academic merit.

Best Foot Forward seeks to promote education and emotional well-being in urban youth by providing students in need with a new pair of shoes, so that every child has the dignity and self-esteem to put their best foot forward in school and in life.

Shoe distribution took place from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Jefferson Park Recreation Center, located
at 1431 Norman Berry Dr, East Point, GA 30344, with further distribution on site at Parklane Elementary school.
